When will HTTP/2 be supported by Acquia Cloud Enterprise?

Hi,

We are migrating a few websites to Acquia Enterprise. Is there any plan of supporting HTTP/2 on Acquia Cloud?

Regards

jeanbaro,

At least at the moment, though HTTP/2 has been a part of some discussions, implementation is not a part of our product roadmap.

Thanks Chris!

As you sure know, HTTP/2 will bring great performance improvements for most websites, which is particularly important for e-commerce. The lack of HTTP/2 support will impact our decision to host (or not) our e-commerce front-end on Drupal/Acquia.

AFAIK all the stack used by Acquia (Varnish, NGNIX, etc) is now HTTP/2 ready. The only thing which may be stopping Acquia from supporting HTTP/2 is AWS ELB lack of support for HTTP/2. If that's the case, will Acquia be able to support HTTP/2 soon after AWS does? Or is there anything else which needs to be addressed?

Sorry for keeping asking this, but HTTP/2 support on Acquia might be a good selling point for Drupal! :)

Thanks

As much a fan as I am of HTTP/2.. I just attended a talk by Hooman Beheshti of Fastly. He ran thousands of tests in conjunction with a packet loss of 0%, 1% and 2% (common on mobile) and HTTP/2.

On devices with 1-2% packet loss HTTP/1.1 is sometimes faster than HTTP/2. Mainly because with HTTP/1.1 and many connections open, lost packets don't hold up the show. When you have just one connection open (HTTP/2) then a lost packet interrupts everything.

It is still early days for HTTP/2. I do hope Acquia supports this very soon though.

bump

since I found nothing new on this topic of http/2 support on acquia hosting, my question again:
Is there a roadmap to support the new protocol http2 on acquia?

Thanks
