Maintenance Action: Code Freeze and Support Coverage Around US Presidential Elections

Code Freeze and Support Coverage Around US Presidential Elections

As the presidential election in the United States is near, we expect many of our customers, including news and media sites, will experience significant increases in site traffic. As a result, they will look to minimize site and platform changes before, during, and after election day on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012.

In support of these efforts, Acquia will not perform any non-emergency code releases nor updates to the Acquia Network, Acquia Search, or Acquia Cloud environments starting Thursday, November 1st through midnight EDT Thursday, November 8th. Additionally, we will not make any Varnish configuration or load balancer changes for Acquia Cloud customers during this time, unless a customer has purchased dedicated load balancers. If you have special needs during this temporary code freeze, please inform Acquia Support or your account manager as early as possible so changes may be tested and implemented in advance of the code freeze period.

In the 24 hours prior to the election, on election day, and for 24 hours following election day, Acquia will schedule extra off-hours support and engineering staff to ensure we have extra capacity for rapid responses should it be necessary to respond to multiple situations at once.

If you are expecting increased traffic due to elections coverage, and if you anticipate a temporary need to upsize your hardware capacity, then please contact your account representative to make the arrangements.
