Installing Solr with Aquia Dev Desktop on OSX Lion

I am attempting to install Solr on Mac OSX Lion to work with Drupal, using the install guide from

I started with the Acquia Dev Desktop and verified that it's working at http://localhost:8082/. I can log in and get to the modules page, where the search toolkit is enabled (along with the Chaos tool suite).

I put the files for the Apache Solr PHP Client in [username]/Sites/acquia-drupal/profiles/acquia/modules/apachesolr/ folder

I then put the apache-solr-3.5.0 folder in the /Applications folder and copied the solrconfig.xml & schema.xml into the apache-solr-3.5.0/solr/example/solr/conf folder, setting the original files to ".old".

This is where it gets interesting. The instructions say to copy the .war file (/bin/apache-solr-1.4.0/dist/apache-solr-1.4.0.war), but there is no .war file (or a "dist" folder)

Instead, I copied the apache-solr-3.5.0/solr folder to the apache-tomcat-6.0.35/webapps folder.

The "" command in the terminal does not work. I get " command not found".

I also referred to the instructions at

What I'm getting is an error when I try to access the admin page for Solr

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong? I need to be able to run the Solr instance locally on a dev box as a proof of concept, before I proceed any further, so the Acquia search (hosted Solr) isn't going to work in this instance.

Thanks in advance.

Found a set of instructions:

Uninstalled everything (including Acquia Dev Desktop) and cleaned out any remaining files. Then I rebooted the Mac.

Reinstalled Acquia Dev Desktop and tested localhost drupal instance. So far so good.

Followed the instructions to the letter. The most important pieces were Steps 5 & 6:

5. Go to sites/all/contrib/apachesolr/solr-conf and copy all files to ~/Servers/apache-solr-3.4/example/solr/conf

6. In ~/Servers/apache-solr-3.4/example/solr/conf you can remove schema.xml and rename schema-solr3x.xml to schema.xml

Worked great. Thanks to Nick Veenhof
