Process MYSQL database server failed to start

Hi, when start control panel comes out this error: "PROCESS MYSQL DATABASE SERVER FAILED TO START". Apache is on, but MYSQL failed to start. Yesterday is ok, but today no. what's happened? Now, in my local folder i have 15 folders for each drupal site and haven't database backup.

How can i resolve it?

Thanks a lot.

I am experiencing the exact same thing, although I don't really care about my databases, I just want to work using Dev Desktop.
OS X 10.10.2 (14C109).
Acquia Dev Desktop
Version: 2 RC
Built: Jan 23 2015 05:18:08
Control panel rev: 58064
Stack rev: 55849

I am getting the same error message. Sometimes starting the stack again (or several tries) works, but more and more it appears to simply time out and give the same error again. Updating to the 03-12-2015 version didn't help.

Sometimes closing DD2 and restarting works.

This is fixed in the current build posted on March 18- in the Acquia Dev Desktop menu click "Check for updates" or download from acquia.com/downloads
See whats new at https://docs.acquia.com/dev-desktop2/whats-new

If you encounter any problems, please click Help > Report a problem so we get logs.

I ran into this problem this morning and upgrade to build Mar 18 2016 07:15:45. Still experience failure of MySQL server to start. See attached screen capture. Important to resolve. I manage 8 websites with this tool and need it to work.

Can this please be addressed? I'm getting the same error over here and am in the same boat as Paul.

There is a work around that works in most cases.

Go to the directory you installed your Dev Desktop programs into.

Inside that directory is another directory AcquiaDevDesktop

Inside that directory is a file dynamic.xml, edit that file with a text editor

There is an XML value , change the value from whatever it is to longer (mine is currently set at 240)

From what I understand when MySQL starts if you have very many local sites, and thus quite a few databases, it just takes a long time for MySQL to do its thing.

Ok, the XML value name got eaten as HTML it is startTimeout

Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem for me. I've tried countless times over the last 2 days.

What does work, is if I run MySQL with XAMPP with the same port as DD2 has. Can someone chime in as to whether or not this can cause errors with pushing and pulling in the future?

I just wanted to poke my head in and say that I've solved the problem. It seems that one of my temp directories was full and also had it's permissions changed.

In my case, the problem turned out to be write permission to the /var/tmp directory. Never an issue before until I did the latest Acquia upgrade. Changing owner to my user name solved it.

I am having the same issue! uggg. This happened after updating my Mac OS to 10.10.5

Can you tell me where the var/tmp directory is? i am looking for it now but it is nowhere to found within the Acquia DevDesktop folders??

I'm completely stalled out at this point and cannot do any more work.

The folder is /var/tmp, so its in your root folder of your computer i.e. not inside DevDesktop folder. From your terminal, do "cd /var". Then "ls -al" to see the tmp folder to check the owner. Change it to your user as the other post suggested and you should be good.
