Internal server error

I hope it just me doing something wrong.

But I have experience internal server error, very very often.

Some logs from error.log
[Tue Nov 08 15:05:26.858836 2016] [fcgid:warn] [pid 11352:tid 1156] [client 127.0.0.1:59324] mod_fcgid: read timeout from pipe
[Tue Nov 08 15:05:26.858836 2016] [core:error] [pid 11352:tid 1156] [client 127.0.0.1:59324] End of script output before headers: index.php
[Tue Nov 08 15:05:36.635338 2016] [fcgid:warn] [pid 11352:tid 636] mod_fcgid: process 15816 graceful kill fail, sending SIGKILL

Its not only experience by me, but my whole team. As we are using similar environment. We use Windows 10. This is currenly a blocker, so we use XAMPP for temporary alternative. Initial reason we use dev desktop because we already use acquia cloud, so it might be better to stick with acquia's stack.

Can someone point out where did I do wrong? We currently use default settings. No changes in php.ini or apache config file (except for vhost, of course)

What build version of Dev Desktop are you using? The latest version is dated Sep 5, 2016.

I get this error too when trying to access a site for the first time in a while. After 10+ refreshes or so the site does finally load. This is on win10 using the latest build of Dev Desktop and Drupal 7.

Sample of Apache errors when trying to load:

I keep getting the same error message once I try to navigate from different sections. It seems to be a problem with how Acquia produces a development environment. I tried all PHP versions available in Acquia Dev Server and this stills happening.

I'm running into this doing a migrate from D7 to D8. Anyone find any fixes? Did you end up using a different home environment?

You can try switching your PHP mode in Preferences > Config from Fast CGI to Apache mode (or vice versa). If you're using Drupal 8.3, you should be fine with PHP 7.0, but if you're planning on using 8.4, you'll need PHP 7.1 which Dev Desktop does not support and never will (afaik). An alternative local environment I have used as well is DrupalVM. However, it doesn't integrate as simply with Acquia Cloud as DD does.

Thanks David:
I'm using Drupal 8.3.7 with PHP 7.0.15 (that's the same version I have on for the Drupal 7 site, too)

I tried Apache mode and it just hung--never went through at all!

I also turned on php error logging but the file isn't appearing. I'm running DevDesktop as administrator and it should be able to write to the folder (it writes apache logs there), so a little not sure why it won't write a php error log.

I'll try out DrupalVM if this latest run (with much bigger settings for FCGI) doesn't pan out. We're on Site Factory so honestly the Acquia integration isn't that useful for us, Dev Desktop doesn't really sync with that.

Yea--latest run did not work! Setting up DrupalVM.

I'd much prefer to use Acquia's tool for this, it's a real shame that it's not working. At the end of the day, though, I just need to run this migration. Maybe I'll end up just hosting the site in a dev container on Acquia and doing it there....

I have the same error over and over again. Little bit frustrating.

Has anybody found a solution for this?

Maybe some directions could be... add php 7.1 into dev desktop manually or manually upgrade the fast_CGI server api?
