How to connect to local database with 3rd party software? (eg. Sequel Pro)

Hi all,

I can't figure out what my connection details are to allow Sequel Pro to connect to my local Acquia Dev Desktop site. I know that I can simply click the database link in Acquia Dev Desktop and it opens in PHPMyAdmin, but I'd prefer to use Sequel Pro.

I think I need Host, Username, Password as well as SSH Host, SSH Username and SSH Password (possibly SSH Port too).

Where can I find the settings, or are there defaults?

Kind regards,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

You can connect to Acquia Dev Desktop mysql using 3rd party tools by creating a socket connection.

Username: root
Socket: /Applications/DevDesktop/mysql/data/mysql.sock

See image for connecting with SequelPro

Documentation is here: https://docs.acquia.com/articles/remote-database-administration-using-th...

Please also see the screenshot for a proper connection setup to Acquia Cloud including free tier.

Make sure your ssh keys are set correctly.

One catch here is that you will need to use "localhost" as the MySql Host. Sequel Pro tries to be smart and make you use 127.0.0.1 instead of "localhost", which then unfortunately will not work with Acquia Cloud. The workaround here is to add a space after "localhost" (again, see screenshot).
